Seemingly out of nowhere, the Caps have signed veteran center Brendan Morrison to a one-year deal. The 33-year-old center has played 755 NHL games, most recently with the Dallas Stars. Last season, as a member of the Stars and Anaheim Ducks, he posted 16 goals and 15 assists.
Presumably, Morrison was signed to play on the second line but, of course, there's no guarantee. Most likely, the team wanted another veteran center with playoff experience at an affordable price. And as if there was any doubt, this is another indication that Michael Nylander does not have a place on the team for next season.
