Caps Top THN Off-Season Grades

In the current (Aug. 3) edition of The Hockey News, the Caps are tops among the teams graded by columnist Adam Proteau:

The Capitals didn't have much cap room to play with, yet landed hotly-pursued, gritty veteran winger Mike Knuble and dependable center Brendan Morrison on reasonable short-term contracts. GM George McPhee would be the new Criss Angel if he could make Michael Nylander and Jose Theodore disappear; even if he can't, the Caps are a better team than the version that won the Southeast Division by 11 points this past season. They're a rugged, minute-munching defenseman away from being very scary.

Pretty high praise, eh? Speaking of Morrison, he stopped by Kettler today and spoke to Tarik.
